HFTP is an International association dedicated to enhance the practice of
professional hospitality accounting, financial management, technology
management, and hospitality information processing. The Chicago Chapter is
dedicated to acquiring funds for students who exhibit academic excellence,
leadership, and communicate a desire to learn more about hospitality-related
programs.
The Chicago Chapter is proud to support a deserving student by awarding a
$1,000 scholarship in 2010.
Eligibility:

Applicants must major in hospitality management,
Accounting, or MIS with at least one semester remaining (school year
beginning, September 2010 through June 2011) after the scholarship is
awarded in September. The applicant must be enrolled in an accredited
university or a high school senior, enrolling in an accredited
university.

Institution must grant a degree in Accounting, MIS, or
Hospitality field.

Applicant must demonstrate academic excellence in
college or high school programs and have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a
4.0 scale.

Applicant must be taking at least 6 credit hours in the
upcoming semester and be currently enrolled in college or a senior in
high school enrolled to be in college.

Applicants receive credit for community involvement
such as activities associated with student hospitality organizations,
voluntary, church, charitable, or political organizations.

Successful applicant will be awarded his/her
scholarship at the Chicago Chapter Fall meeting and will attend the
event as our guest.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Prior HFTP Chicago scholarship recipients are
not eligible.
Required Application Information

An official academic transcript (most recently
completed semesters high school or college whichever most recently
enrolled in)

Essay of no more than 500 words addressing "Why do
I want to be in the hospitality industry?"

Two reference letters from academia, extracurricular
activities or work related.
Evaluation Criteria
Selected applicants will be chosen based on points awarded for GPA,
written essay, work history and extracurricular activities. The
scholarship will be sent directly to the applicant's school of choice
during the fall term 2010. Only complete packages will be considered.
Documents must be typed in a word format. Points are awarded for overall
